I Tested DeepAI & While Cost-Effective, It Falls Short of Professional Expectations.

I’ve often found that looking for a cost-effective generative AI media tool is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

There are very few budget-friendly options that can help with creating quality images and videos. However, I recently came across DeepAI and it may be an exception.

It offers relatively low pricing, so I took some time to explore its various features and even tested out its image/video generation tools to see how it performs firsthand.

But before I get into the details of my personal experience with it, let me break down the platform’s pros and cons for those who may prefer to skim it.

ProsCons✔️ Versatile AI generation toolset❌ Limited advanced features✔️ Fast AI generation speeds❌ Few AI models to choose from✔️ Budget-friendly pricing options❌ Substandard user-interface✔️ Generous free plan access❌ Average quality images and videos

I’ve laid out all the important bits for you, but if you want the proper story into DeepAI, then read on. I’ve got so much to share about what it can do, how it performs, and more.

So, let’s not waste any more time and get into the interesting stuff.

What Is DeepAI About?

DeepAI is a versatile AI platform that lets users access conversational chat capabilities, as well as generative AI tools to produce images, videos, and even music.

I find navigating it can be child’s play for anyone, which makes it accessible to any user looking to create content, even without any prior experience.

I’ll admit DeepAI’s design took me by surprise. It has a very substandard interface with frills or advanced controls, yet it still seems to be quite comprehensive.

But what is most appealing about it to me is its monthly subscription pricing model. Upon sign-up, I get a bundle of usage across DeepAI’s various tools that refreshes each month.

And in case I were to go over the monthly limits, I have the flexibility to pay extra for more generations. I consider this to be a unique approach that few other tools typically offer.

page2

When it comes to its AI image generator, you can create all kinds of static imagery in several styles like anime, 3D, renaissance painting, steampunk, gothic art, and so much more.

page3

There are also dozens of other unique styles available to choose from, so I believe it is capable of catering to almost any visual concept.

To add to that, DeepAI even comes with an AI image editor. You just need to upload an image, describe what I want changed, and the AI tool handles the rest.

As for its AI video generator, you can choose to input a descriptive prompt or use a reference image to create a 5-second video, be it realistic or animated.

It even lets you browse videos that other community users have created. And since you can also see what unique prompts they used, you can take inspiration from that to refine your inputs.

page4

Besides that, there is also the AI music generator tool that allows you to produce unique audio or sound effects using basic text prompts.

With this, you can use it to create background music or other custom sounds, which can be handy in different projects such as YouTube videos, podcasts, vlogs, etc.

Last but not least, there’s the AI chat interface that works similar to other LLMs like GPT, Gemini, etc. With this, I can research, generate text, get math assistance, etc.

At first glance, I would say this is a very comprehensive feature set. Technically, I should have no trouble creating content for different use cases.

However, whether it can produce quality results is another matter. To uncover the answer to this, I carried out my own personal tests of the platform’s capabilities.

How Did My Experience With DeepAI Turn Out?

I found the simplicity of DeepAI to be an appealing concept, but ultimately, the quality of the results are what truly matter. So, how does this AI tool perform?

Text to Image Generation Test #1

To start with, I wanted to test out its AI image generator and its ability to produce realistic imagery. So, this was the request I made:

[An elderly couple walking hand in hand along a quiet beach at sunset, their footprints trailing behind them in the wet sand. The man is wearing a straw hat while the woman wears a flowing white shawl. There is a calming sense of peace and love that can be felt from the scene. Front view camera shot.]

This was the generated output it produced:

The first thing I will say is that the scene render was not bad. The image looks semi-realistic, and even my preferred clothing choices were followed precisely.

The tone and lighting of the scene also did well to reflect quite a serene moment between the two subjects, so that’s a good thing.

However, it seems Deep ai's prompt adherence could still use some work because the footprint trail doesn't align with the couple.

Also, the image is just not detailed enough. It lacks the high-resolution quality that I was expecting, with the couple’s faces not even properly visible.

There’s also some image distortion around their hands to contend with. So, while DeepAI came close to what I requested, I can’t really give a rating anything higher than a 5/10.

Text to Image Generation Test #2

I decided to try out the AI image generator again to see how it performs if I went with a slightly different concept. This was the new request I made:

[A female ninja in sleek black cyber-armor stands atop a neon-lit rooftop in a futuristic dystopian city. Her glowing katana reflects the electric lights below while flying drones and holographic ads fill the night sky.]

You can check out the final image render below:

page6

In this case, I was a little less disappointed despite it not being a perfect render. For one, I appreciated how it adhered to a futuristic-dystopian theme.

The character design is also not bad, and when paired with the neo-futuristic cityscape backdrop, the image looks somewhat like a cinematic storyboard snapshot.

On the flip side is the level of image quality. It still lacks that sophisticated clarity and detail you expect from professional designs. Not to mention, it lacks a certain unique imagination to it.

Also, aspects like the drones don’t particularly fit in naturally. If anything, they look like they were simply pasted into the scene rather than being part of it.

All in all, I’d give this render a 6/10 rating. A better result than the first test, but ultimately, a bit too simplistic and average.

Text to Video Generation Test

Moving on to the AI video generator, I wanted to see if DeepAI’s renders would be better or perhaps present similar issues. So this was the prompt I submitted:

[A young woman in a hoodie with headphones on is playing video games in her bedroom with her eyes purely focused intently on the computer screen and her fingers moving rapidly across the keyboard. The scene is filled with soft, ambient lighting to portray a cozy yet excitingly competitive atmosphere.]

This was the final video it produced:

In terms of subject realism, I will admit DeepAI didn’t do a bad job. At the very least, she wasn’t rendered with the typical glossy, fake design that most AI-generated characters tend to present.

Nevertheless, it’s unmistakable to any viewer that this is an artificially created scene. This is especially evident by her movements not being as natural as they could be.

Moreover, the subject’s interactions with her environment aren’t lifelike enough. Also, there are a few inaccuracies that highlight the tool’s issues with effective prompt adherence.

Once again, not a professional visual result. Frankly, if I had to rate it, I’d give this video render a 4/10 rating.

What Is My Honest Verdict on DeepAI?

I truly felt that DeepAI had promise, but faltered when it mattered most. At first glance, its simplicity and comprehensiveness meant I could create any visual media painlessly.

And the fact that its monthly Pro plan isn’t exorbitantly overpriced means I wouldn’t need to break the bank to generate content. Especially compared to most other generative AI tools.

But I think the results speak for themselves. For me, I was most frustrated by how it fails to deliver exceptional quality outputs.

Based on the tests, it seems only capable of producing basic image and video renders. In other words, the images and videos are not terrible, but they aren’t great, either.

The clarity and detail are not there, and most importantly, there is a general sense of creativity and imagination lacking in its final renders.

To make things worse, it has no advanced features or controls to help further personalize your media creations. All you get is a prompt box and that’s it.

But even then, the platform’s capacity for prompt adherence is shaky at best. At times, it follows instructions. But other times, it produces output with missing or inaccurately placed elements.

Ultimately, I would say DeepAI generates stock footage quality. So, while it doesn’t produce uniquely imaginative results, I find that it can at least help with basic conceptualization.

So, if you want a simple tool to generate basic content, then you can explore DeepAI. Otherwise, I believe you would need a more powerful alternative for higher-quality results.
